About Stamped Concrete
Construction Process
Site preparation: Clearing the area where the driveway will be constructed, removing any existing vegetation or debris.
Excavation: Digging and leveling the ground to the required depth for the driveway, ensuring proper drainage.
Sub-base installation: Laying and compacting a layer of crushed stone or gravel to create a stable foundation for the driveway.
Edging installation: Installing concrete or plastic edging along the sides of the driveway to define its boundaries and prevent the spreading of the concrete.
Formwork setup: Formwork is installed to define the shape and dimensions of the stamped concrete pavement. This is typically done using wooden or metal forms that are secured in place with stakes or screws.
Concrete pouring: Pouring the concrete mixture into the formwork, ensuring it is evenly spread and leveled using tools like rakes and screeds.
Stamping: Once the concrete is poured and leveled, the stamping process begins. Stamps with various patterns and textures are pressed into the surface of the wet concrete to create the desired design. This can include imitating the look of natural materials like stone, brick, or wood.
Finishing: After stamping and colouring, the stamped concrete pavement is left to cure and harden for a specific period of time. During this time, the surface may be sealed to protect it from stains, moisture, and UV damage [Optional]. Additionally, any necessary touch-ups or repairs are made to ensure a smooth and uniform appearance.
Sealing: [Optional] Applying a concrete sealer to protect the surface from stains, weathering, and enhance its durability.
